Mystery Pollster

Mystery Pollster
While we are on subject of polls, the mystery pollster weighs in on moveon.org outlandish charges against gallup. Also talks about focus groups. IMHO, I glad MSNBC is pulling there focus group after the debate. I never buy that the people they pick are undecided voters anyway.

The Louisiana senate race part II

Ringside Politics - Louisiana Politics With Jeff Crouere
Another article on the Louisiana Senate race. LIke all others, the theme is Vitter is the man to beat.

Rodney Alexander (Fallout of switching from Democrat to Republican)

Let him eat halibut=The Hill.com=
The Hill newspaper has an insightful artice on former Democrat Congressman and no Republican congressman Rodney Alexander. Alexander's district takes in most of the north eastern part of the state. Much of the economy is based on farming and not surprising is also one of the poorest rural districts in the country. The race two years ago to replace Republican Congressman Cooksey was an barnburner. In fact, it is widely believed that the that becasue the two republicans in the general election couldn't mend fences contributed to Rodney Alexander's victory. I agree with that analysis. Alexander won that race by the thinnest of margins. What is of interest was that 20,000 more people voted for Senate race(Terrell v Landrieu) than the house race that same day. The Republican candidate Terrell swept large portions of that district. Basically, infighting between the two major republicans battling to make the runoff made Alexanders victory possible. What is of interest was that this year Alexander had no viable competion. His Republican challenger was no serious threat to him in my opinion. But like they say in Washington, being in the majority is alot more fun than being in the minority. I believe Alexander will receive some backlash from way he switched at the very last minute. To say the least Sister Mary Landrieu(Democratic Senator) is mighty upset. However, Alexander is generally liked in the district and should survive the challenge.

Vitter's great week(La Senate Race)

PoliticsLA.com Commentary
JIm Brown has an interesting column today regarding the Louisiana Senate Race. According to Brown, Vitter had a nice little Republican fundraiser in New York recently. I believe Brown's anaylsis is right on this race. The democrats might be too late to the party to save whatever democrat is left standing after the first election. More on the democratic side later on today.

WRAL.com - News - Mason-Dixon Poll: Bush's Numbers Grow In N.C.
WOW Bad day for poor Edwards. First a badly planned event in the new swing state of New Jersey and now these poll numbers from North Carolina.

EDWARD'S EVENT IN NEW JERSEY DIDN'T GO WELL

The Kerry Spot on National Review Online
Interesting article from National Review online on Edward's emergency trip to New Jersey to attempt to stop the bleeding. It appears the campaign glitches that so follow Kerry around now have hit his boyish looking sidekick.

Great cartoon here on Kerry's draft hysteria. Its amazing how this political urban legend is circulating. Does anyone believe that even if Bush carried 49 states he would have the political capital to reinstate the draft? When is he going to be questioned on this nonsense he keeps spouting. Posted by Hello

Waiting for Kerry's Big Finish to Start (washingtonpost.com)

Waiting for Kerry's Big Finish to Start (washingtonpost.com)
Great article in the Post about the supposed great closer Kerry is in campaigns. Actually if memory seves me right the main race they always reference is the WELD/KERRy race in the 90's. Two thoughts here- Winning a race against a liberal republican in Massachusetts is not indicative of how he will close the deal with all us "yahoos and rednecks" in flyover country , and secondly unless Kerry tones down a couple of nouches and quit campaigning like a mudslinging county sheriff he will be lucky to carry New Jersey.

MLive.com: NewsFlash - Clerks struggling with fraudulent voter registration forms as deadline nears
This is a story to watch. Even though it hasn't hit the mainstream media yet the blogsphere is deluged with similar stories in several swing states. This purported "Public Interest group" is also rumored to be under investigation. For those who think that demorats wouldn't do this go to www.democraticunderground.org and view their daily rants. More to come on this later.

Election Day in New Orleans(FOX SAVES THE DAY)

Welcome to the Best of New Orleans! News Feature 09 28 04
I have to admit I am not a fan of our Secretary of State but this is a great story of how our Secretary of State almost got arrested. It appears that the company hired to transport the machines to New Orleans didnt send enough drivers. Even though he was risking the criminal charge of Unauthorized Use of an Motor Vehicle, Fox commandered one the trucks and drove it himself. WAY TO GO FOX.

Jindal is target of jabs in quiet race
Jindal has this race wrapped up. He is going for the seat being vacated by Vitter who is running for U.S. Senate. Expect Bobby to be a high profile person on the talk shows. He is being groomed for higher things I expect.

Illinois Conservative Politics Keyes Update

Illinois Conservative PoliticsIt appears no statement was made by Keyes or his daughter last night. My opinion is good for him. Keyes's daughter situation is quite different from Cheney's daughter. In the Vice Presidents case his daughter has conducted interviews talking about her sexuality. Keyes's daughter has not. Also the allegations haven't been proven at all. As I posted earlier, I have mixed feelings posting articles on this but soon the national media will be on the story and we better be prepared.

Peter Kirsanow on Florida 2000 and Jimmy Carter on National Review Online
Well good gosh Al gore goes off the reservation and now Carter. Oh well we havent heard much from Carter since he gave that horrible interview to the left leaning British paper The Guardian. But if anyone care what the truly last President to cave into terrorism has to say here is a great rebuttal.

D. Morris piece here. No matter what you think about Morris I think this piece hits it on the head. I really think Kerry if he is going to attack Bush on Iraq must tone down a couple of nouches.

Mystery Pollster: Little Change in September

Mystery Pollster: Little Change in September
Even though this pollster is an Democrat, I think his insights are pretty good. He generally doesn't spin the polls like sides from both camps do. He believes Kerry has made no ground up but like me believes that Bush is just barely over the top. Needless to say the debates and hard work will be be important for Bush's victory.

Alan Keyes' Family Values(GOOD GAWD)

Alan Keyes' Family Values
If you dont think this campaign season can get more strange, several web sites are reporting that ALAN KEYES daughter is a lesbian. Now before everyone gets on to me about this remember its going to be all over the blogsphere tonight. Is it a legitimate issue if true? Perhaps, since Keyes comments on Cheney's daughter were so sensational. Oh well for the record I like Alan Keyes and voted for him twice in the Louisiana republican primary. Any way the very good looking though liberal wonkette has some links to some of the web sites as well as what is purported to be miss keyes blog site entries. Yall decide at least it entertaining. Enjoy

Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon) Seismicity Press Release
You know I hope to God that Mt St Helens doesnt erupt again(I remember when it happened in the seventies) but if it does of historical interest will be the influence of natural disasters on the national election. Will Bush have the opportunity to be the "healer" again in two more swing states or will the press take the line that people suffer because all the money is going to Iraq and not to local victims. I am already starting to see that thread of reasoning in some press articles.(click header above for link)

Americans Overseas for Kerry-Edwards (AOK): Afghanistan Archives
Wow Kerry Campaign events in Afghanistan. I guess Bagdad is off their calender. By the way I wonder what "non americans" were at this little party in Kabul. Perhaps instead of the Special Forces searching for terrorist on the border perhaps they should try somewhere else hmmmm

Thoughts on Espn College rankings top 25

Oh well, guess USC didn't suffer from their performance playing Stanford. Also Georgia number 3? Well LSU will take care of that error next saturday.

New Iraq Soldier blog

I always enjoy blogs from soldiers in Iraq. They often give perpective you dont get at home. Even with some recent censorship of some them by the higher ups they are generally a good resource. This is a new one from a army doc in Iraq. Just got there. I soon as get my links up I will put him on. Give him some encouragement. go to www.christiansoldier.blogspot.com.

LSU WINSSSS

Yes your defending National Champions LSU Fighting Tigers have won again sending Miss State Dawgs back to the dawg pound after a receiving a massivie whooping yesterday. Have to admit, I feel sorry for Miss State especially after getting beat by Maine (DIV IIA) last week. Gawd what a great poster they are for the SEC. Maybe we can get Southern Miss to join. Oh by the way will USC go down in the pols after their performance against Stanford. Lsu did after our close win at the first of the year. MY thought is dont count on it. The sportswriters would never dream of doing that to their precious Trojans.

He we go again

Well after my first attempt to start a blog site on my musing on the political world here I go again. Due to unforseen personal matters, I had to be absent for a while. Solets get rolling.
